Man & Woman of the Year is philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of two local children who are blood cancer survivors.
The man and woman who have raised the most funds during the ten-week campaign are awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year in their community. The man and woman who have raised the most across the entire US will be recognized as the national Man & Woman of the year.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funds leading-edge research for every type of blood cancer, including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other rare types of blood cancers. As the largest nonprofit funder of cutting-edge blood cancer research to advance cures, LLS has invested nearly $1.3 billion in cancer research since we started in 1949, leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients.
LLS helped advance 60 of the 71 blood cancer treatment options approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration since 2017.
I am honored to be a candidate for this year's LLS Man and Woman of the Year. I believe the fight against leukemia and lymphoma is everyone’s fight. It is important not to wait until our families are impacted by a devastating disease to act. We must act now to raise funds to eradicate leukemia and lymphoma before they are able to take another son, daughter, grandmother, father or friend. Without the research, treatment plans, and funding for ongoing support, blood cancers will continue to affect lives. Every three minutes someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer. It is our responsibility to change that statistic.
Since its founding in 2004, the flagship Royal Restrooms office in Savannah has donated more than $2 million in in-kind donations to non-profit organizations locally and over $15 million in in-kind donations by Royal Restrooms franchisees nationwide. Over the past decade and a half, our company has been able to help out our neighbors, giving back when we have been asked. Now I have the chance to ask others to give back to a cause I believe in. I hope the business and non-profit community I been an active part of will adopt the LLS cause as their own and make a donation.
I hope you will join me as I campain to be the 2021 LLS Man of the Year.
